2006-07 MATCH REPORTS (as U9's)

REFFLEY 'A' U9's
Managers: Vince Chapman & Jimmy Turner

SAT 14 APR 2007: REFFLEY 4-0 WOOTTONS 'B' (at Reffley)

Second placed Reffley A entertained third place Wootton B in what should have been a tight affair in their quest for runners up position behind Fakenham.

Reffley A controlled the game throughout and the passing at times were a credit to everyone watching. Nathan Winner gave the home team the lead with a long range thunder bolt and then added a superb second from distance after a good lay off in the mid field to go into the break 2-0 up.

The second half remained Reffley A’s and Jack Hawes put the game beyond doubt with a mazy run passing 5 Wootton B players with ease to coolly slot home before Jordan Turner completed the scoring with a confident tap in. This win ensured Reffley A runners up in the Mid Norfolk Youth League U9’s.

Man of the Match - The whole squad

SAT 14 APR 2007: REFFLEY 1-1 DERSINGHAM 'A' (at Reffley)

Honours were shared in Reffley A’s last game of the season against a very good Dersingham A team. Both teams started brightly with free flowing football and chances aplenty. Dersingham A took the lead from long range and nearly doubled the advantage with an identical long range shot which Ashley Johnson managed to finger tip to safety. Jordan Turner got Reffley A a deserved equaliser with yet another superb long range shot.

The home keeper had to be replaced due to injury and sub-keeper Callum Chapman did Reffley proud with some important saves to ensure a point was gained.

This game could only be described as a fantastic advert for local football on a sun filled Saturday in front of nearly 100 spectators.

Well done boys.

SAT 31 MAR 2007: HEACHAM 0-4 REFFLEY 'A' (at Fakenham)

Birthday boy Benedict Hazle scored an excellent hat-trick to help inspire Reffley to victory over Heacham. Reffley A started brightly with entertaining passing play from the whole team from start to finish with the midfield trio of Jordan Turner, Nathan Winner and Joshua Murray winning the battle for possession and feeding Benedict Hazle up front. It was only a matter of time before the 1st goal and this duly came from Jordan Turner who slotted home under pressure. Benedict Hazle then added a 2nd after a good team move and then headed in superbly Reffleys 3rd from a cross from the right before completing his hat-trick with a cool finish. With the defenders Jack Hawes and Ben Harris stopping anything Heacham had in attack, this enabled the introduction of Callum Chapman and Harry Evans to play their part in a competent all round team performance.

MotM: Benedict Hazle and Nathan Winner

SAT 31 MAR 2007: FAKENHAM 3-0 REFFLEY 'A' (at Fakenham)

A much improved Reffley A visited Fakenham for this top of the table encounter. Reffley came into this game hoping to improve on their 4-0 drubbing inflicted on them in the cup earlier in the season. Reffley started well and more than matched their opponents which saw the 1st half goalless.

In the 2nd half Fakenham stifled Reffley's passing play and deservingly took the lead much to the dismay of the sizable traveling support. In their quest for an equaliser the home team added two more and could have had more but for some good saves by Ashley Johnson.

Vince and I were especially pleased with the performance and character shown by the players after a very turbulent week in which Callum Hawes broke his leg and everybody connected with Reffley and football would like to wish him a speedy recovery.

SAT 10 FEB 2007: DOWNHAM 0-2 REFFLEY 'A' (at Downham)

Reffley 'A' produced their best performance of the season with this win against a good Downham team. The hosts started the brighter but were unable to gain the advantage required due to Reffley's formidable defence. As the game went on Reffley started to gain some rhythm in their play and good chances were missed or saved by the excellent Downham 'keeper.

In the second half Reffley started brightly and took the lead when a long range shot was bundled in by Benedict Hazle much to the relief of the visiting management team and the traveling support. Confidence then grew and Callum Hawes was up ended in the penalty area with 2 minutes remaining, in which Ben Harris slotted home Frank Lampard style.

MotM: Ben Harris for his superb defensive performance and his excellent taking of the penalty.

SAT 10 FEB 2007: DERSINGHAM 'B' V REFFLEY (at Downham)

Changes were made for this game, most notably Callum Chapman replacing Ashley Johnson in goal for his first start of the season in this position.  Jordan Turner opened the scoring with an easy tap in and Ben Harris added a second before the break.

Nathan Winners effortless running in the second half enabled the ever improving Joshua Murray to head home a deserving 3rd.  Callum Hawes and Harry Evans completed the scoring to maintain Reffley's 100% record in 2007.

MotM: Joshua Murray excellent all round performance capped with a good goal.

SAT 27 JAN 2007: REFFLEY 'A' 4-0 FELTWELL (at Reffley)

Reffley 'A' returned to league action following the mid season break with this victory over Feltwell. Reffley started the game slowly but once they regained their ability to pass to one another they created chances and Nathan Winner deservingly gave the home team the lead. Jordan Turner doubled the advantage shortly before the break with his 16th goal of the season.

For the second half Reffley introduced Joshua Murray and Benedict Hazle to the fray and they immediately took control of the midfield and stake their claim in the first team line up. Jack Hawes added a 3rd from long range and Ashley Johnson completed the scoring late on with his 1st for the season.

MotM: Ashley Johnson and Callum Chapman (Confident Goalkeeping)

SAT 09 DEC 2006: CLENCHWARTON 0-1 REFFLEY (at Clenchwarton)

Reffley 'A' deservingly won this top of the table clash with Clenchwarton in a very entertaining encounter. Reffley started the brighter and the midfield trio of Nathan Winner, Benedict Hazle and Jordan Turner distributed the ball confidently as they pressed for the first goal. Chances were at a premium at both ends, with Reffley A’s goalkeeper Ashley Johnson and the home 'keeper rising to the challenge as the first half finished goalless.

The deadlock was broken early in the second half when Callum Hawes pressured the Clenchwarton defence into giving away a corner, which Nathan Winner duly poked home. Clenchwarton then raised the tempo in their search for an equaliser and defenders Jack Hawes, Ben Harris and the introduction of Harry Evans held out for an excellent win.

MotM - The Whole Team, everyone fought hard.

SAT 09 DEC 2006: EAST LYNN 0-4 REFFLEY (at Clenchwarton)

Reffley 'A' started slowly with plenty of possession without penetrating the East Lynn defence. Ben Harris and Nathan Winner made some good runs down the flanks and went one up through Jordan Turner from their good wing play. Reffley added a second when good passing between Callum Hawes and Jordan Turner enabled Callum Hawes to confidently score. With renewed grit and determination from Harry Evans in the midfield allowed Jordan Turner to add a third before Jack Hawes completed the scoring late on.

Special mention to Joshua Murray and Zach Futter who are improving every week and nice to see Callum Chapman smiling again and gaining confidence in goal.

MotM - Jack Hawes, solid.

Reffley 'A' would like to wish the sponsors Gary Evans Photography, King’s Lynn Koi and Tropicals and Tony South of Classic Occassions a Merry Christmas and extend this to all the other Mid Norfolk Youth League Clubs.

SAT 02 DEC 2006: HUNGATE 0-5 REFFLEY (at Hungate)

Callum Hawes scored his 4th hatrick of the season as Reffley 'A' produced yet another fine all round performance with this convincing win. Callum Hawes gave the visitors the lead and Benedict Hazle doubled the advantage heading home a corner from Jordan Turner just before the break.

In the second half Reffley 'A' continued to control the pattern of play and increased the margin further with a goal from Jordan Turner before Callum Hawes scored his 13th and 14th goal of the season.

Ben Harris and Jack Hawes were again solid in defence and man of the match Benedict Hazle was rewarded for his tireless running with a well taken goal.

SAT 02 DEC 2006: WATLINGTON P-P REFFLEY (at Hungate)

With both teams unbeaten and only 2 goals conceded between them all season, this game was always going to be a low scoring affair.

This game, contrary to what the score line suggested, was very entertaining and a credit to the U9's League, Reffley 'A' had the lions' share of possession with Callum Hawes going close but were unable to break through Watlington's defence who had yet to concede all season. Reffley A's goalkeeper Ashley Johnson pulled off a fine save down to his left to deny Watlington the advantage and ensured Reffley 'A' remain unbeaten. Man of the Match Callum Hawes who worked his socks off for the team.

SAT 25 NOV 2006: HUNGATE P-P REFFLEY (at Hungate)

SAT 25 NOV 2006: WATLINGTON P-P REFFLEY (at Hungate)

SAT 11 NOV 2006: WOOTTONS 'A' 1-5 REFFLEY (at West Winch)

Reffley 'A' produced a superb 1st half team performance and were rewarded with 4 - 0 lead. A fine individual run and confident finish from Callum Hawes was the pick of the 1st half goals.

Changes at break enabled Reffley to add to their lead before Wootton A reduced the arrears with a late consolation. Reffley goal scorers Callum Hawes 3, Benedict Hazle and Nathan Winner.

Reffley MotM: Ben Harris - a rock in defence in his 1st game in this position and Nathan Winner - impressive debut rewarded with a well taken goal.

SAT 11 NOV 2006: WEST WINCH 0-3 REFFLEY (at West Winch)

Reffley 'A' under-estimated a resolute West Winch side and eventually took the lead through Jordan Turner

In the 2nd half, Reffley seemed more at ease in their play and doubled their advantage with Nathan Winner heading home from a corner. Jordan Turner then added a third with a fine long range effort to complete the scoring. Jack Hawes and Ben Harris were excellent in defence.

Reffley MotM: Jordan Turner well taken goals and corners.

SAT 14 OCT 2006: REFFLEY 0-5 FAKENHAM - League KO Cup - Pre. Round (at Reffley School)

Reffley A crashed out of the knockout cup against a very well organised Fakenham team. Reffley A were unable to penetrate Fakenham at all in the first half and were 2-0 down at the interval. After the break managed to improve with good possession and Callum Hawes hitting the crossbar after a fine run. The team battled together but unfortunately 2 more Fakenham goals were scored. Man of the match: Callum Hawes for good effort and determination.

SAT 14 OCT 2006: REFFLEY 0-1 DOWNHAM (at Reffley School)

Reffley A lost this friendly with a Downham goal in the first half. This game gave the managers a chance to change the formation and see new players in different positions. Man of the Match: Jack Hawes very strong and composed in defence.

SAT 07 OCT 2006: REFFLEY 1-0 ST. EDMUNDS PRIDE (at Tilney)

Reffley 'A' came out triumphant with a hard fought win against a resilient St Edmunds Pride team. Callum Hawes scored the all important goad mid way through the second half to secure the points. Special mentions must go to goal keeper Ashley Johnson who commanded his area well and Callum Chapman who did what was required, when required with minimum fuss.

Reffley MotM: Jordan Turner gave all round physical presence and ran his socks off for the team.

SAT 07 OCT 2006: REFFLEY V TILNEY (at Tilney)

Reffley 'A' passed their way to a resounding victory over Tilney who to their credit never gave up. With everyone passing the ball with confidence this enabled Reffley to score regularly with a number of players on the score sheet. Goals came from Benedict Hazle (4), Callum Hawes (4), Jordan Turner (3), Ben Harris (3), Harry Evans, Jack Hawes, and well taken goal by Joshua Murray, his first for the club.

Special mention to Zach Futter who did well on his debut.

Reffley MotM: Jordan Turner who was at the heart of everything.

SAT 23 SEPTEMBER 2006: REFFLEY 'A' 5-1 REFFLEY 'B' (at Reffley School)

Reffley 'A' kicked off the new season with a comfortable victory over Reffley 'B'. After a nervous start Reffley 'A' settled down and began passing which allowed Ben Harris to score. Further goals came at regular intervals from Jordan Turner (2) and Benedict Hazle (2). Reffley 'B' scored a late consolation with undoubtedly the best strike in an enjoyable game.

SAT 23 SEPTEMBER 2006: REFFLEY 'A' 12-0 SHOULDHAM (at Reffley School)

Reffley 'A' started as they finished the previous game with good determination and total dominance throughout. Good passing and movement enabled Reffley 'A' to score six goals in each half. Scorers were Jordan Turner (5) - 1 pen, Callum Hawes (3), Ben Harris (3) and Jack Hawes. More goals could have been scored but for some heroics from the Shouldham keeper.

Well done to the whole team for a fantastic start to the season.

The Managers would like to thank John Murray for sponsoring the matchball.

Reffley MotM: Benedict Hazel
