07 APR 2007: EAST LYNN 'A' 5-1 REFFLEY (at Dersingham)
Well this was a shocker but here goes, from playing on the biggest
pitch the previous match to probably one of the smaller ones I felt
fairly confident that we could hold our own against the top two teams in
the league but I could not believe what I was witnessing in this game,
East Lynn played their best football ever with long range shooting
flying in and creating numerous chances, and scoring at will, I nearly
decided to throw myself on but didn't want to get embarrassed at chasing
shadows. They really were that good, so boys, forget about this one
because it was a one off, we beat them earlier in the season in the
league and they just had one of them days.
SAT 07 APR 2007: DERSINGHAM 'A' 0-0 REFFLEY (at Dersingham)
After the last game I was not looking forward to playing the top team
but we showed a lot more character and got stuck in to the challenges
even creating more scoring chances than Dersingham, but we just could
not put the ball into the net, A very good improvement on the last game
with everyone working as a team and Ben Berwick looking solid in goal,
Aidan Grange making good tackles in defence, Harry Ward and Kai
Gilkerson working together well in midfield we just lacked an in form
striker.
MotM: The whole team.
Squad Ben Berwick, Aidan Grange, Harry Greeves,
Aarron Pyper, Harry Ward, Daniel Howlett, Kai Gilkerson, Dean Whitmore,
Nathaniel Hazle, Connor Pakes, Kai Neeve.

31 MAR 2007: FAKENHAM 1-0 REFFLEY (at Fakenham)
This was the furthest we had to travel for a fixture this year, and
a long way to come to get nothing for our troubles and Aaron Pyper and
Harry Ward falling ill on the way. On arriving at Fakenham I was shown
to the pitch we were to be playing on and immediately I thought it was
to big as it was double the size we normally played on, I made a phone
call but was unable to get an answer so we played the game and was
passed off the pitch because Reffley lads couldn't get near enough to
make a challenge on any Fakenham player. I was very pleased with the way
we chased the game and the energy of a few players but another lesson
learned I hope. Although Fakenham had the majority of possession a
unfortunate mistake by Ben in goal, when he didn't hold the ball and
Fakenham's player lifted it over him to score was there only notable
effort on goal. I'm sure on a normal sized pitch our skill and
compactness would have won all points from this encounter, and to rub
salt into the wounds Fakenham's coach told me afterwards the pitch size
was 65 x 45 and only just oversize so they could be ready for 11 a side
next year, Still an unfair advantage in my eyes as rules are rules.
SAT 31 MAR 2007: HEACHAM 0-3 REFFLEY (at Fakenham) -
Friendly
This game was just a friendly and with Harry Greeves and Daniel Howlett
leaving to go play in a roller hockey tournament this left me with just
seven players to run around and some of them out of position on a
massive pitch, But they played really well and could have scored a lot
more goals if the shooting was more clinical. Heacham rarely troubled
the defence as we where always on the attack and with Deano's goal
hangin eventually getting him a tap in, Connor Pakes creating numerous
chances and taking just one, and the impressive Nathaniel Hazel sitting
in the middle of the park passing the ball about and controlling the
game deserved his goal, a better team performance on very large pitch.
Mom Nathaniel Hazle.
Squad Ben
Berwick, Aidan Grange, Kai Neeve, Harry Greeves, Kai Gilkerson, Daniel
Howlett, Dean Whitmore, Connor Pakes, Nathaniel Hazle.

10 MAR 2007: HEACHAM 0-5 REFFLEY - League KO Cup, Last 16 (at Downham)
Heacham turned up late for this game and must have wished they stayed
away as this was probably Reffleys finest performance all season, the
passing was first class as was the commitment shown by all the players.
Reffley created numerous chances and took only a few of them with two
own goals, a Nathaniel Hazle strike and Harry Ward scoring two and
playing easily his best game of the season, It was looking good for the
next round of the knockout cup with all the players on top of their
game.
MotM: The entire squad.
SAT 10 MAR 2007: DOWNHAM 3-0 REFFLEY - League KO Cup, Q/F (at
Downham)
Everything was looking good before this game but at kick off one of my
more influential players got what I can only assume as stage fright and
refused to play even after much pleading, and other gentle persuasive
techniques he still wouldn't change his mind.
This was a set back but we shuffled players around and should have been
able to cope with Downham as both times we have played them this year
the score was 0-0 and we were unlucky. However, Downham played a very
good attacking game that we couldn't contain and scored three goals
against us without reply.
Well battled lads don't let your heads go down sometimes we have off
games that hopefully we will learn from, But always show sportsmanship
and respect in defeat.
MotM: Kai Neeve
Everyone from Reffley wishes Lewis Davenport a speedy recovery from his
broken ankle.
Squad Ben Berwick, Aaron Pyper, Aidan Grange,
Kai Neeve, Kai Gilkerson, Harry Greeves, Harry Ward, Daniel Howlett,
Connor Pakes, Nathaniel Hazle, Dean Whitmore.

SAT
17 FEB 2007: CLENCHWARTON 0-1 REFFLEY
Reffley started this game very
well and looked very solid in defence with Kai Neeve and Kai Gilkerson
never troubled. Chances were rare for either team and eventually
Reffley's midfield took control of the game with Daniel Howlett making
numerous interceptions and running at Clenchwarton's defence which
eventually resulted in the only goal of the game when he dribble around
two defenders before smashing the ball at the Clenchwarton goalie who
could only parry the ball into the net. MOM Daniel Howlett
SAT 17 FEB 2007: WOOTTONS 'B' 0-0 REFFLEY
Reffley struggled to come to terms with the over physical approach
from the Wootton boys and could not get their passing game going with
many passes going astray on a very heavy pitch, it was not good viewing.
In the second half, Reffley gave as good as they were getting and
started making crunching tackles of their own, with Harry Ward in the
thick of it putting himself about and making a real nuisance of himself.
Stand in goalie, Harry Greeves made a late good save but was really
troubled so all in all 0-0 was a fair result and Reffley must learn not
to let teams bully them of the ball and bring us down to their level.
Squad: Harry
Greaves, Kai Neeve, Kai Gilkerson, Daniel Howlett, Harry Ward, Lewis
Davenport, Conner Pakes, Nathaniel Hazle.

SAT 03 FEB 2007 DOWNHAM 'A' 0-1 REFFLEY (At Dersingham)
A very competitive and entertaining game which always seems to be
the way against Downham, Reffley I think edged this game and caused
numerous problems from Daniel Howlett's corners with Harry Ward
attacking them with thumping headers, but unfortunately the ball just
wouldn't go in and the closest anyone came to scoring was saved by the
crossbar. Kai Gilkerson had a very solid game in any position I asked
him to play and showed great composure and stamina, Well done to all the
lads for giving everything, and restricting a very good Downham team to
hardly any chances.
MotM: All the TEAM.
SAT
03 FEB 2007: DERSINGHAM 'B' 0-1 REFFLEY (At Dersingham)
Reffley started this game very well, passing the ball about
creating loads of opportunities to score, but on a heavy pitch we just
couldn't put enough power into our shots to cause any problems to
Dersingham's goalie and it looked like this was heading for a draw. Just
before half time Daniel Howlett took on several players before
passing it into the net giving Reffley a deserved lead, After the break
Dersingham seemed to be a changed team and battled for everything even
forcing Ben Berwick to make some saves in goal and Aidan Grange and
Aaron Pyper to make last gasp tackles but some how Reffley hung on to
win the game 1 goal to nil.
MotM: Kai Neeve.
Squad: Ben Berwick, Kai Neeve, Aidan Grange,
Aaron Pyper, Kai Gilkerson, Daniel Howlett, Harry Ward, Nathaniel Hazle

16 DEC 2006: CLENCHWARTON 3-4 REFFLEY - Friendly (at
Woottons)
Reffley started this game unbelievably well
chasing players down and keeping Clenchwarton under pressure, I couldn't
believe what I was witnessing, every chance that was created we scored
from with Connor Pakes notching two and Kai Gilkerson
scoring one. Clenchwarton were awarded a penalty when their player was
tripped in the penalty area and scored from the resulting spot kick, at
half time the score was 3-1 to Reffley. Straight from the start of the
second half Clenchwarton came out a totally different team , passing the
ball about and putting Reffley's defence under great deal of pressure,
this resulted in Clenchwarton scoring two goals and solitary strike from
Connor Pakes for his hat trick to give Reffley the win in an
enjoyable end to end game.
MotM: Connor Pakes with some great finishing
SAT 16 DEC 2006: WOOTTONS 'B' V REFFLEY (at
Woottons)
After the first games performance we should have
come into this game flying and we did but we created numerous chances
without scoring, Harry Ward had three good chances, two headers from
corners went over and the best move of the match when Daniel Howlett
went down the right wing and crossed for Harry Ward to smash a volley
which nearly broke the cross bar but stayed out, Then totally against
the run of play Woottons broke forward and poked the ball past Ben
Berwick in goal, Half time 1-0 to Woottons.
During half time I gave the lads a talking to explaining to them not to
panic, keep calm, keep passing the ball and the chances will eventually
go in, I knew we could get back into this game but I can safely say I
have never shouted so much with encouragement and have a sore throat as proof
of this, Reffley restarted the match and went straight on the
attack with Harry Ward taking on several Wootton players before
smashing the ball across the goalie into the far corner of the net, with
this goal it eased nerves and I changed a few players around bringing
Daniel Howlett back on and from his dangerous corners and Harry Ward
attacking them with thumping headers, eventually came the winning
goal.
MotM: Harry Ward for plenty of effort and two goals
Reffley Squad:
Ben Berwick, Harry Greeves, Aaron Pyper, Aidan Grange, Kai Neeve, Kai
Gilkerson, Harry Ward, Daniel Howlett, Lewis Davenport, Connor Pakes,

SAT
09 DEC 2006: REFFLEY 1-2 DERSINGHAM 'A' (at Reffley)
We knew this was going to be a hard game as Dersingham are top of the
league, And as usual we started very slowly giving them too much time on
the ball and too much respect with players standing off waiting for each
other to make decisions, There wasn't too many chances in the first half
until nearly half time when a Dersingham A player strolled past two
midfielders and two defenders and smashed the ball into the net.
Half time we had a quick talk and changed players about, this seemed to
motivate the team and the challengers started to be made with a few more
chances coming Reffley's way. Reffley scored their goal when Harry
Ward challenged the goalie blocking his clearance and tapping into
an empty net (1-1), at this point I thought Reffley could push on and
win the game but almost straight from the kick-off Dersingham A went on
the attack and scored their second after more slack defending from the
home team. This was a good match played in the right spirit of the game.
SAT 09 DEC 2006: REFFLEY 2-1 EAST LYNN 'A' (at Reffley)
This was a very good team performance by the Reffley lads as they didn't
need any motivating for this game and they all wanted the ball and to
win every tackle, both teams had chances to score as the defending was
not the best from either team. Reffley went ahead when Daniel Howlett
scored from 10yds inside East Lynn's half which sailed over the
stranded keeper, East Lynn rallied after conceding that goal and were
awarded a penalty when a Reffley defender handled the ball in his
penalty area and from the resulting spot kick it was all square for half
time(1-1).
During half time I made several changes to freshen the players up and
they continued to give it their all with a few errors at the back which
East Lynn didn't capitalize on, but a much better attacking performance
with players running at the East Lynn defence causing them numerous
problems, Reffley's winner came from good passing move which resulted in
Kai Neeve beating a player and squeezing a shot under the keeper
into the net. Great win lads.
MotM: Kai Gilkerson for great energy and determination.
Squad:
Ben Berwick, Aaron Pyper, Adian Grange, Harry Greaves, Kai Neeve,
Kai Gilkerson, Daniel Howlett, Harry Ward, Lewis Davenport, Conner Pakes,

SAT
02 DEC 2006: FAKENHAM 1-2 REFFLEY (at Heacham)
Reffley had a full squad this week, and we needed the four subs to play
their part on a very heavy pitch. Harry Ward scored the first
goal and Nathaniel Hazel the other so it was 2-0 at half time. In
the second half Fakenham got their act together and put Reffley under
immense pressure which resulted with a shot into the top corner of the
net which gave Ben Berwick no chance. This was not a great performance
by Reffley but a great result. MOM Cameron Hague.
SAT 18 NOV 2006: HEACHAM 0-2 REFFLEY (Friendly - at Heacham)
Reffley played much better this game with more pass and move
and created a number of good chances. Harry Ward had a good effort which
hit the post; Lewis Davenport was solid in defence and passed the ball
about very well. Connor Pakes scored his first goal for the club. When
Daniel Howlett came on for the second half he dominated the middle of
the pitch and was rewarded with a goal. Well done lads.
Squad: Ben Berwick,
Aaron Pyper, Kai Neeve, Kai Gilkerson, Harry Ward, Daniel Howlett,
Cameron Hague, Dean Whitmore, Lewis Davenport, Conner Pakes, Nathaniel
Hazle.
All the U10's wish Peter, Linda and
Cameron all the best for their move to Scotland - you will be sorely
missed.

18 NOV 2006: CLENCHWARTON v REFFLEY (at Dersingham)
This game we simply didn't turn up for , There was plenty of effort but no
passing , we have to believe in each other and work as a team,
Clenchwarton scored two soft goals that we gifted them. I believe there's
so much more we can achieve this season so keep your heads up lads. Daniel
Howlett scored a cracking consolation goal but to little to late.
SAT 18 NOV 2006: DERSINGHAM 'B' 1-5 REFFLEY (Friendly - at
Dersingham)
This was just a friendly and a totally different game everyone wanted the
ball everyone was enjoying themselves so we created numerous chances, Kai
Gilkerson scored a great individual goal going past three players before
slotting the ball into the net. Daniel Howlett, Cameron Hague, Kai Neve
and Dean Whitmore scored the other goals. Special mention for Deano for
always trying and a great goal celebration.

07 OCT 2006: REFFLEY 0-0 DOWNHAM 'A'
We knew this was going to be a close game with not many chances to
score as Downham a are a good side that tries to play the pass and move
game the same as we do, this was not one of our better games but the lads
restricted Downham to just one clear cut chance which narrowly went wide.
We switched players around second half to try to make something happen and
were duly awarded a penalty when the Downham keeper took Daniel Howlett
out from behind, unfortunately Daniel stepped up to take the penalty and
smashed it wide of the target. All in all a performance that we can easily
improve on, and probably 0-0 was the correct result.
SAT 07 OCT 2006: REFFLEY 5-1 DERSINGHAM 'B'
After a talking to every player knew what was expected of them and we
started the game brightly going 1-0 up when a cross took a cruel
deflection of a Dersingham defender, we then created numerous chances
without increasing the score. Dersingham were battling well and trying to
get the ball up front quickly to their fast forward who then smashed an
unstoppable shot into the top corner giving Ben Berwick no chance in goal,
so at half time it was all level and in the halftime talk we addressed a
few problems and came out for the second half more fired up, the passing
and movement improved and they started working for each other and looked
like they were actually enjoying themselves so inevitably the goals flowed
with two great finishes by Kai Neve and Daniel and Cameron scoring a goal
apiece , lots of other chances went begging and Harry ward doing
everything but scoring but overall good teamwork in the second half
against a battling Dersingham 'B'.
Thanks to Steven Berwick for doing a good job refereeing.

Gilkerson, Harry Greeves, Harry Ward, Daniel Howlett, Cameron Hague,

23 SEPTEMBER 2006: HEACHAM 0-6 REFFLEY (at Heacham)
First game of the season and we passed the ball about really well with Kai
Neeve solid in defence we never looked liked conceding goals. We showed
good promise with the passing and movement and hopefully can build on this
in the coming months. Harry Ward joins us this season and had a good first
game. We scored six and created a lot more chances but failed to convert
them into goals, the scorers were Cameron Hague (2), Daniel
Howlett (3) and Harry Ward (penalty). Thanks to a good Heacham
side who never stopped trying.
SAT 23 SEPTEMBER 2006: WELLS 0-0 REFFLEY (at Heacham)
Another solid defensive display but not as many chances this game which we
would have won if it was not for the Wells keeper having an excellent game
and stopping everything that was hit at him, and the post coming to his
rescue as well. The passing
was not as fluent against Wells but that was probably because they are a
good team that shut us down quickly, but very pleasing that we haven’t
conceded any goals as yet and we are getting the passing and moving
together and playing as a team and not moaning at each other but
encouraging. Harry Greeves deserves special mention for coming on as sub
and as always doing a good job for the team.
Thanks to Steven Berwick for stepping in as referee at the last
minute.
Squad: Ben Berwick, Kai Neeve, Kai Gilkerson,
Harry Greeves, Harry Ward, Daniel Howlett, Cameron Hague, Nathaniel Hazel,
