Squad
Harry Greeves, Jack Moy, Nathaniel Hazle, Daniel Howlett, Harry Ward,
Dean Whitmore, Connor Pakes and Kai Neeve.
Reffley started the game very brightly and
with the side shuffled around because of injuries and call offs, we
still managed to dominate the majority of possession, but instead of
playing as a team, some players held on to the ball to long instead of
passing it about. Jack Moy was outstanding at the back as was
Nathaniel Hazle when he played there for the second half, making
important tackles and being very composed in his distribution of the
ball. Daniel Howlett ran the middle of the park and set up
numerous chances when we eventually decided to play football. The goals
flowed at regular intervals with Daniel Howlett scoring 3,
Harry Ward scored 4 and one of which was a thunderbolt into the roof
of the net from distance was the pick of the goals, Connor Pakes
pounced on a goalie error to fire into the net for a comfortable win
against a game Heacham side that didn’t stop trying. Harry Greeves
in the Reffley goal was hardly troubled, Dean Whitmore put loads
of effort in as usual, and Kai Neeve did well in the first half
of the game.

12 APR 2008: ST. EDS. PRIDE
'A' 1-4 REFFLEY
Reffley started quickly
out of the blocks for this game and scored an early goal through Jack
Moy that settled the nerves so Reffley could knock the ball about,
keep possession and build on their early lead. As usual the midfield of
Lewis Davenport, Daniel Howlett and Nathaniel
Hazle dominated play creating numerous chances to score. Daniel
Howlett scored the second from distance when Harry Wards smart dummy
fooled the keeper so that the shot went into the far corner of the net.
Jack Moy scored his second of the game with a tap in after some
good football from Nathaniel Hazle squared the ball passed the
stranded St Eds goalie. Harry Ward scored Reffleys fourth goal
with a thunderous free kick into the roof of the net. St Eds scored a
consolation goal when an early strike at goal caught Reffleys goalie
sleeping. Thanks to St Eds for providing an excellent referee and
playing a good sporting game.

05 APR 2008: REFFLEY 1-1 WELLS
Reffley entertained wells in this top of the table clash,
and started off fairly nervously with passes going astray but looking
solid in defence with Aidan Grange and Kai Gilkerson outstanding,
Reffley eventually regained their composure with Daniel Howlett
dominating midfield and making surging runs that caused wells numerous
problems throughout the game, On one these runs he rounded the defence
before smashing the ball across the keeper into the far corner.
Half time with Reffley leading I
made some changes that I probably shouldn’t have, but I try to give
everyone a game, and this affected the balance of play with Wells
getting back into the game. Reffley still created numerous chances just
as they did in the first half but failed to convert any opportunities.
Wells scored their goal from an error by Ben Berwick when he rushed a
goal kick, that went straight to Wells forward who duly chipped it over
our goalies head for a great finish. After conceding this upset a few
players so much so that they started to criticise their team mates when
they made errors, This is not going to happen again, everyone encourages
each other and if you want to criticise you can do it from the sideline
with me.
Reffley pressed the game for the
remainding five minutes and totally dominated creating many more chances
through Daniel and Jack Moys running but unfortunately We couldn’t score
so two points dropped against the top of the table team that really
should have been a comfortable 3-0 win with the amount of chances we
created.

29 MAR 2008: REFFLEY 2-0 CLENCHWARTON
A really nice day for a
game of football saw Reffley stroll about in this game against a good
clenchwarton side that battled for everything and forced Ben Berwick
in Reffleys goal to make some stunning saves late on in the match.
Reffley took the points with goals from Harry Ward and Daniel
Howlett. The defence of Kai Gilkerson and Aidan
Grange were not troubled until near the end of the match but they
weathered the storm and clung on for the three points.

Reffley
started slowly as usual finding it hard to get any rythm to there play
but still creating a good number of scoring oppertunities but missing
the majority of chances, Harry Ward opened the scoring and added a
couple more goals from thunderous shots. Jack Moy scored a hat-trick as
well with some oppertunist finishing and great dribbling. Marham scored
there goal from a corner when Ben Berwick in reffleys goal made a rare
mistake and droppped the ball into his net. Reffley dominated the game
through midfield and were solid in defence as usual and the score should
have been many more but for poor finishing, The other goals were scored
by Daniel Howlett and Kai Gilkerson.

SQUAD
Ben Berwick, Kai Gilkerson, Daniel Howlett, Harry Ward, Jack Moy, Dean
Whitmore, Lewis Davenport, Harry Greeves, Aidan Grange and Nathaniel
Hazle.
Reffley came flying out of the blocks
for this game and were awarded a penalty in the first minute, But Harry
Ward unfortunately tried to knock the goalie into the back of the net
with his shot instead of placing it, and from the resulting rebound
Daniel Howlett was adjudged to have fouled the goalie before scoring.
However this didn’t stop Harry Ward grabbing a hat trick in the first
four minutes of this match and finished with eight goals but could have
had many more if he composed himself in front of goal, Ben Berwick in
Reffleys goal was virtually a spectator and was given a run up front for
the last five minutes.
Reffley dominated with numerous runs
from Daniel Howlett and Jack Moy creating havock, The defence of Kai
Gilkerson, Aidan Grange and Harry Greeves was back to their best winning
and distributing the ball well.
Reffley scored at will and the scorers
were Harry Ward (8) Jack Moy (4), Dean Whitmore (2), Nathaniel Hazle
(2), Lewis Davenport and Daniel Howlett.
To Downhams credit they didn’t stop
trying and battled well for every ball, but Reffley had every player on
form with Dean Whitmore sniffing for goals and unselfishly setting
people up in front of goal it was an excellent team performance after
last weeks struggle.

EDMUNDS PRIDE 'A'
SQUAD Harry Greeves, Kai
Gilkerson, Daniel Howlett, Harry Ward, Jack Moy, Aidan Grange, Aaron
Pyper, Nathaniel Hazle, Connor Pakes and Kai Neeve
After previous weeks
fluent flowing football we came crashing back to earth against a
battling St Eds Pride A who chased everything and put in more effort.
Reffley seemed to go through the motions unable to create the numerous
chances of previous weeks, but having said that Reffley restricted shots
on their goal to virtually nil, with the defence of Kai Gilkerson, Aidan
Grange and Aaron Pyper making some great tackles, So that Harry Greeves
in goal was a spectator. Reffley scored a goal in either half with
Daniel Howlett smashing in from a tight angle in the first half.
Half time team talk
didn’t get through to the lads as they still lacked shape and passing to
their game for the second half, Jack Moy, Nathaniel Hazle, Kai Neeve and
Daniel Howlett continued to chase and work hard in midfield but just
couldn’t find the passes. The second goal came with probably the only
passing movement of the game when Jack Moy was released down the line to
cross into the area for Harry Ward to smash an unstoppable volley
passed the stranded St Eds Pride goalie. Well done to Connor Pakes when
he came on as sub. Another win that was just about deserved with room
for improvement but pleasing to keep a clean sheet and grind out results
when not at our best.

8-1 CLENCHWARTON (League KO Cup - S/F)
SQUAD Harry Greeves,
Ben Berwick, Kai Gilkerson, Kai Neve, Nathaniel Hazle, Daniel Howlett,
Harry Ward, Lewis Davenport, Jack Moy, Dean Whitmore and Aidan Grange.
On yet another
bitterly cold morning Reffley entertained there close rivals
Clenchwarton in a semi final match, Before kick off Reffley received a
good team talk, telling them that just turning up wasn’t good enough and
that good teams worked for each other and moved the ball about quickly
to create opportunities. With this ringing in their ears they started
the match at a phenomenal pace and were 3-0 up after ten minutes with
Harry ward smashing a quick fire hat trick with some clinical
finishing, everyone was really working their socks off and the passing
and movement off the ball was the best this team have produced, Daniel
Howlett and Jack Moy pulling all the strings in midfield and Nathaniel
Hazle hardly putting a foot wrong. Aidan Grange and Kai Gilkerson in
defence were solid not giving clenchwarton a shot at goal. At half time
the score was 5-0 with Daniel Howlett and Kai Neve
notching the other two.
Reffley made
substitutions and changed goalies to give everyone a good run out and
maybe too many changes on my part as Reffley were not as fluent with the
passing but the effort was still there, Dean whitmore coolly
scored the sixth slotting into the corner off the net, Jack Moy
was rewarded for his tireless running with a well taken goal when he
slipped the ball past the advancing Clenchwarton goalie. Clenchwarton
woke up after this and had a five minute spell when they was on top and
scored a consolation goal, but the match was all over by then, Daniel
Howlett scored his second and the final goal of the game from the
penalty spot after he was brought down in the area. An excellent game of
football from Reffley who continue to improve all the time.
MOM Daniel
Howlett good vision, passing and tackling.

Reffley
started this game slowly, struggling to get any momentum or string any
passes together. But eventually Reffley
opened the scoring through Harry Ward and that goal lifted the team to
increase the work rate and create numerous chances throughout the
remainder of the game. Reffley had four
substitutes that were given a good run out, with everyone contributing
to flowing football that just got better as the game went on. Kai
Gilkerson and Kai
Neve were solid in defence, Jack Moy
and Daniel Howlett dominated the midfield, with all the strikers getting
on the score sheet but missing several opportunities to increase the
overall goal tally,
The final score was 13-0 and the scorers were Harry
Ward 4, Daniel Howlett 3, Lewis Davenport 2, Connor
Pakes 2, Jack Moy
and Dean Whitmore.

JAN 2008: CLENCHWARTON 0-5 REFFLEY
Squad: Ben Berwick, Harry Greeves, Aarron
Pyper, Kai Gilkerson, Kai Neve, Harry Ward, Daniel Howlett, Jack Moy,
Nathaniel Hazle, and Aidan Grange.
A few changes where
made for this game against clenchwarton as we knew they were a very good
side and we wanted to restrict them to very few chances, so we had a
chat before the game to let every player know what was expected off
them, And that if they didn’t contribute as they could we had
substitutes that would love to come on. This seemed to work better than
I could ever have hoped for as everyone worked there socks off getting
tackles in and chasing players back to win the ball. Harry Ward
opened the scoring by smashing the ball into the corner of the goal
following sustained pressure from Reffley. The second goal was scored by
Daniel Howlett when he crossed from wide and the ball evaded
everyone to sneak in at the back post, Clenchwarton then had a good
chance to score but Harry Greeves in the Reffley goal made a great save
at the attackers feet to keep the score 2-0 at half time.
The substitutes
came on at half time and we proceeded to carry on where we left off from
the first half, with some excellent pass and move and one touch football
we created numerous chances with Daniel Howlett and Jack Moy running
Clenchwarton ragged, Aidan Grange and Kai Neeve impressive in defence
with decisive tackles and great distribution of the ball out to the
midfielders to create chances for the fox in the box Nathaniel Hazle
to notch a couple of tap ins before Daniel Howlett went on a
surging run to smash the ball into the top corner. Well done Harry Ward
for good hold up play, and every player for being committed to work hard
for each other creating a fantastic game of football to watch against a
very good Clenchwarton team that just played us on one of them days that
happens occasionally in football.
Mom: Jack Moy

SQAUD Ben Berwick, Kai Gilkerson, Kai
Neve, Harry
Greeves, Harry Ward, Daniel Howlett, Lewis Davenport, Dean
Whitmore, Nathaniel Hazle and Jack
Moy.
On a bitterly cold
morning we eventually got round to playing this cup match against St
Eds Pride A, having already knocked there
B team out in the previous round 13 - 0 we expected stiffer competition
and was not disappointed with St Eds
eager participation.
The first half was
fairly scrappy and not very easy on the eye, with many stray passes,
missed tackles and no composure in front of goal, But with probably the
only passing movement of the first half,
Harry Ward crossed for Nathaniel Hazle
to side foot clinically into the net.
Within a couple of
minutes St Eds had levelled, after giving
away a needless free kick Reffley didn’t
defend very well and when the ball dropped in front of the goal St
Eds attacker took his chance well passing
it under the advancing goalie.
With the scores
level it woke Reffley up and from a
corner Jack Moy scored a great
headed goal to go 2-1 up at half time. The second half was much better,
everyone wanted the ball and the substitutes Lewis Davenport, Dean
whitmore and Kai
Neve put more urgency into the game, Getting the ball to Jack
moy and
Daniel Howlett to run at the opposition and dominate play which resulted
in a few bad mistimed tackles that stopped them in their tracks,
But overall a good
second half see Jack Moy get his
second of the match before Harry Ward smashed an unstoppable free
kick into the top corner near the dying seconds.
Much better defensively second half with Kai
Gilkerson finding his composure and
giving Ben Berwick little to do. A deserved win against a good
team that could have conceded a lot more goals if
Reffley were more clinical and St
Eds keeper Will Horn hadn’t have been on
top form. Thanks to the referee who controlled the game well and St
Eds for a sporting game.

REFFLEY Wells is
the furthest game away from home we would play this season but it was
definitely worth the traveling time, both teams were fired up for it as
you would expect from a top of the table clash.
The first half was fairly even without
many scoring opportunities but plenty of tackles flying in.
The second half was much better from
Reffley with the wind behind them they started to make the ball do the
work and pass the ball about against a very good Wells team; Harry Ward
scored the only goal of the game after good play from Jack Moy set him
up to smash the ball through the goalies legs. Ben Berwick in the Reffley
goal had very little to do because Kai Gilkerson, Harry Geeves and Kai
Neve were solid in defence and the midfield of Daniel Howlett, Lewis
Davenport and Jack Moy made important tackles and surging runs creating
more chances for Reffley to score, This was a good hard game played the
correct way with the right result in the end.
Thanks to the referee who handled the
game well and to Wells for being a sporting team.

Heacham visited
us for an entertaining game of football that was a little bit one sided
with Reffley having the majority of play without creating many scoring
opportunities.
Daniel Howlett
opened the scoring for Reffley with an unstoppable shot from a tight
angle into the roof of the net to settle Reffleys nerves. At half time
the score was 1-0 and a fair reflection of the first half.
Reffley made four
changes for the restart and the players that came on battled for every
ball and eventually scored again when Kai Neve went on a surging
run before smashing the ball in at the near post. The other goals came
from Nathaniel Hazle following a scramble in the penalty area
from a corner and Dean Whitmore latching on to defensive mix up
to smash the ball in. A solid performance from all Reffley players with
hopefully better to come.

A very enjoyable day
was had at Marham, the weather was superb, all the boys enjoyed
themselves and the referee was very good, talking to the lads telling
them when they were wrong and encouraging good play from both sides
(which is how it should be).
Reffley took ages to
get started but were soon in the lead thanks to some powerful shots from
Harry Ward who scored a hat trick. Marham pulled a goal back
after some slack defending, which just spurred Reffley on to score a few
more goals from Daniel Howlett and Jack Moy (2).
In the second half,
Reffley used all remaining substitutions to give all the boys a run out
but scored only 1 more goal from Dean Whitmore but created
numerous chances that were wasted.

Reffley played a fairly good team game

Downham
have their goalie to thank as he made several good saves to stop an even
more unbelievable scorline.

Gilkerson (2), Connor Pakes (2), Aaron Pyper (2), Harry Ward (2), Harry
Greeves, Dean Whitmore, and one og.
Aidan Grange and
Lewis Davenport played a good game without getting on the score sheet
and Ben Berwick, Reffley's goalie nearly scored near the end of the game
but for a good save from Downhams goalie. Downham nearly scored a
consolation goal but stand in goalie Daniel Howlett tipped it wide for a

22 SEPT 2007:
REFFLEY 9-1 ST. EDMUNDS PRIDE 'A'
Well at last the new season begins and
with an excellent pre-season of freindlys and tournament wins the lads
have really set their standards high. The longer games will increase
their stamina but it really is a squad game now more than ever with
every player expected to give their all and work for each other.
Today we entertained
St Edmunds Pride and it definitely was a game of two halves The first
half Reffley didn’t pass the ball very well and seemed to be taking a
too direct route to score with too many individual performances and
shots from any range or angle that the impressive St Eds keeper saved
comfortably.
The second half the
lads went out knowing what was expected of them and I changed keepers as
Harry Greeves didn’t have much to do in the first half and gave Ben
Berwick a run out and changed a few players around hoping that they
would pinch a goal and get us a win. But they all seemed more composed
and passed the ball around really well that eventually a Harry Ward
shot took a deflection through a crowd of players, giving Reffley
the lead and settling the nerves to go on and control the game.
The other Reffley
scorers were Kai Neve, Kai Gilkerson (2) (already scored
more than last year), Aaron Pyper (2) (didn’t score last year),
Daniel Howlett (2) and Harry Ward grabbing his second of
the game.
All the lads worked
very hard in the second half, Lewis Davenport and Connor Pakes closing
down quickly and Aidan Grange with Harry Greeves looking solid in
defence. Thanks to St Eds for a sporting game, Tim for refereeing and my
wife for the refreshments. A great start to the season lads and a good
all round team performance in the second half.
