TOURNAMENT REPORT

Reffley entered two teams into this annual tournament at under 14’s. After some call offs we had to invite a couple of guests to play.

Both teams started well and played some good football, winning their opening games.

The blue team gathered themselves and grabbed their chances and although a couple of decisions went against them pushed on and qualified for the semis without conceding a goal winning 3 and drawing 2.

The reds had to contend with the larger group and put themselves into the semis as well with some battling performances and winning 3, drawing 2 and losing 1.

Both sides acquitted themselves in the semis but unfortunately the reds lost one nil to Watton, conceding a deflected own goal. The blues conceded their first goal with only twenty seconds of the game left.

I was very proud of the player’s attitude during this tournament especially when under severe pressure and the way both teams pulled together and supported each other.

It gives me a special reason to look forward to next season.
