2004-05 MATCH REPORTS (as U12's)

UNDER 12'S

28 April 2005: WOOTTONS 4-2 REFFLEY
In a keenly fought encounter between local rivals Wootton's came out on top. Reffley dominated the early play and took the lead through Ryan Scott. Wootton's replied just before half time with a well taken effort. The second half saw play swing Wootton's way and with three more well taken goals, their lead was unassailable. Reffley's late reply came from Matthew Cornwell. Paul and the players would like to thank the parents for their fantastic support throughout the season and Kayleigh for ensuring their drinks are ready every week.

17 April 2005: REFFLEY 3-0 BRANDON
With the Brandon forwards leaving their shooting boots behind and Reffly's 'keeper Darren Smith reurning to great form, Reffley ran out comfortable winners. The first half saw Reffley take the initiative, as Matthew Cornwell produced a wonderful cross for Ryan Scott to open the scoring. The lead was then increased by a cheeky opportunistic goal from Ben Ward after a mistake by the Brandon 'keeper. The second half was keenly contested, with both sides producing some good football, but only one chance was converted by Reffley's Joe Scott after some good build up play. This was a very good all round squad performance by the home side.

10 April 2005: REFFLEY 4-1 HUNGATE
In the first half, Reffley handled the windy conditions the better of the two teams. Ben Ward and Ryan Scott produced some good football and created several chances. Ward himself and Ryan Beasley successfully converted two of these to put Reffley in the lead at half time. The second half saw Reffley really dominate the game, with their defence putting in a very solid performance. Also, the midfield produced a great second half creating more chances. Further goals came from Ward and Ryan Scott to complete a solid win. Reffley MotM: Chris Goodsen.

3 April 2005: BRANDON 3-0 REFFLEY
Brandon took the game to Reffley and soon went 1-0 up. With 'keeper Darren Smith unwell and defenders making poor mistakes, this contrived to give Brandon two more goals before half time. The second half saw Reffley finally wake up and with Williams, Scott (J), Cole and Tyhurst all raising their game, it looked like it was only a matter of time before Reffley got on the score sheet. Ward, Scott (R) and Cornwell each forced an excellent save from the home 'keeper, who had a great game. Unfortunetly for Reffley it was not meant to be and the home side ran out winners. Reffley MotM: Luke Tyhurst.

27 March 2005: DEREHAM 1-12 REFFLEY

6 MARCH 2005: MUNDFORD 1-2 REFFLEY
Reffley saved their best performance of the season for their away trip to second placed Mundford. In a sporting game, both sides played some attractive football. Although Reffley had their 'keeper, Darren Smith, to thank on a couple of occasions, the whole side rallied well after going behind when a clearance which was unfortunately charged down by the Mundford centre forward. Reffley then struck back as the team combined some great tackling and good football to create the opening which Ben Ward superbly put away for the equaliser. Danny Taylor and Ryan Beasley then worked a great free kick which was cleared off the line by the Mundford 'keeper. The Lynn side kept pressing and with the final whistle looming, Matthew Cornwell and Ward combined well with Rhys Williams who headed the winner. It was a solid defensive display from the whole team. Reffley MotM: Rhys Williams, who capped a fine performance with a good goal.

13 FEBRUARY 2005: DERSINGHAM 7-2 REFFLEY
This game was dominated by the wind and the effective long range shooting of Dersingham. Reffley had the better of the early exchanges but found themselves a goal down before Patrick Staunton equalised with a speculative cross. Reffley continued to play well but were thwarted by some resolute Dersingham defending. It took a deflected shot to give Reffley the lead but poor defending allowed Dersingham to equalise just before half time.

Playing with the wind, after the turn-around, Dersingham laid siege to the Reffley goal. Some good defending held the home side at bay, until with 15 minutes to go, a couple of quick goals and a penalty saw Dersingham pull away. Towards the end of the game Dersingham wrapped it up with two more strikes. Both sides competed very well in difficult circumstances.

6 FEBRUARY 2005: TERRINGTON 3-1 REFFLEY
Reffley never turned up for this game and with Terrington producing a very good performance, the result was inevitable. Terrington went 2 - 0 up at half-time, then added a third, early in the second half. When Reffley finally woke up and started to play, only a late consolation goal by Ben Ward was any reward for their efforts. Reffley must now put this performance behind them and finish off the rest of the season in a positive manner. Reffley MotM was goal keeper Darren Smith, who was absolutely superb. Reffley wish Terrington all the best in the semi-finals.

30 January 2005: DOWNHAM 2-4 REFFLEY
This game was played in a fantastic spirit. Reffley started the quicker of the two teams and were 2-0 up after 15 minutes with good goals from Ryan Scott and Matthew Cornwell. Both sides then had chances but were unable to take them due to good defending and great goalkeeping. The second half was end-to-end stuff with both sides playing some excellent football. Tom Chambers reduced the deficit with a well taken strike, only for Ben Ward to restore Reffley's advantage. With both sides now pressing Chambers again scored, this time directly from a corner. Reffley then dug-in and re-grouped with Cornwell and Scott combining to create an opening for Ward to restore the two goal advantage. Both managers described this as "an excellent game", well controlled by a very good referee in David Major. Reffley MotM: The whole team

23 January 2005: HEACHAM 1-1 REFFLEY
In heavy conditions, both sides turned in good performances. Reffley were camped at the Heacham end for the first half but still found themselves 1 - 0 down when Heacham broke away to score a good goal. The second half was more even with Reffley attacking and Heacham defending very well. It took a free kick, like a missile, from Ryan Beasley to level the score. Patrick Staunton had a good debut game. MotM for Reffley: Ryan Scott.

9 January 2005: SWAFFHAM PEDDLARS 10-2 REFFLEY
With the Swaffham manager admitting that the result was farcical, Reffley suffered their worst defeat of the season after succumbing to a team, who when they rely on their footballing skills, are a very good side. Goals from Matt Cornwell and Ryan Scott were all Reffley had to show. Reffley MOTM was Joseph Scott.

12 December 2004: REFFLEY 7-1 WEST WINCH WB
The game started at a fast pace with both sides showing a competitive edge. By half-time, Reffley had egded into a 2-0 lead. After the break, the hard-fighting West Winch team pulled back a goal, but Reffley weathered the storm and began to dominate. The goal of the game came when Matthew Cornwell provided a perfect cross for Ryan Scott to head in Reffley's sixth.  Reffley's scorers were Ryan Scott with another hat full (4) Ryan Beasley (2) and Joseph Scott. Reffley's MotM: the whole of the defence for a terrific display.

19 December 2004: REFFLEY 6-1 MATTISHALL
Reffley started very slowly which allowed their opponents to take control initially, however two excellent long range strikes from Luke Tyhurst and Ryan Beasley to put them ahead at half-time. The second half saw Reffley really take control and with Jack Starling having his best game of the season and Darren Smith pulling of a tremendous save, they went on to secure a comfortable win. Goals were scored at regular intervals by Ben Ward, Ryan Scott (2) and an absolutely fantastic strike from Matty Cornwell from fully 25yards, sealed the victory. Mattishall's reply came close to the end from a well-taken penalty but it was scant reward for a fighting performance. Reffley's MotM were Tyhurst and Beasley.
