26 March 2006: WOOTTONS 3-1 REFFLEY

No Match Report.

19 MARCH 2006: REFFLEY 2-3 HUNGATE

12 March 2006: HUNGATE V REFFLEY
Again with a depleted side Reffley found it hard going and soon found themselves one down. But this acted more of a spur than previously and with Ryan Beasley and Joseph Scott getting to grips in the midfield and Matt Cornwell rising to the challenge they took the game to Hungate. A great run by Matt was well finished off by Luke Tyhurst at the back post. This was then followed by a well taken header by Ryan Scott and then followed by a tap in for the same player - both created by Ben Ward to give Reffley a 3-1 lead.

Half time came and Reffley thought they had won it but were woken by a second well taken Hungate goal. This spurred Reffley on and Luke was brought down in the box to enable Darren Smith to score his first league goal from the spot. The game was effectively over when Matt Cornwall scored with a superb twenty yard free kick.

Both sides contrived to miss chances but the Reffley defence of Danny Taylor, Jacob Ridsdill, Patrick Staunton and the solid James Cole remained resolute. A good return to the side for Jack Starling.

Reffley would like to thank the young referee M. Thompson who controlled the game very well.

5 MARCH 2006: BRANDON 7-3 REFFLEY
A poor performance from a depleted Reffley side saw them thankful to Darren Smith in goal who pulled off two fantastic saves to keep the score as low as it was and to Joseph Scott for another tireless performance. The Reffley scorers were Ryan Scott (2) and Matt Cornwell.

26 February 2006: DERSINGHAM 3-1 REFFLEY
Dersingham took an early lead when a shot from thirty yards out was picked up by the wind to leave Darren Smith in the Reffley goal stranded. The lead was increased when persistent work from Luke Biles, forced the ball home. With half time approaching Reffley slowly got back into the game.

The second half started with Ryan Scott knocking a superb ball through for Matt Cornwell to calmly slot past the Dersingham 'keeper. Reffley then raised their game and some sustained pressure resulted in a series of corners. Luck was, however, against them on the day and they went down to ten men through injuries and shortly after went further behind.

Both managers complimented the teams for their efforts in a game marred by the managers running short of "magic water".

Thanks to Ingoldisthorpe for the use of their pitch at short notice.

19 February 2006: REFFLEY 1-1 BRANDON
An entertaining game from two wholly committed teams. Reffley opened the scoring when a good clearance from goalkeeper Darren Smith gave Ryan Scott the opportunity to beat the defence to slot in. Some hard fought exchanges then took place but although the Reffley defence was on their game failure to close down from a corner saw the ball drop to the Brandon winger whose lob just beat Smith for the equaliser.

The second half was played at a fantastic pace with both sides acquitting themselves very well. But for all the hard work and with Ben Ward a constant thorn in the Brandon side, a winner could not be found.

Reffley MotM: Darren Smith.

12 February 2006: TERRINGTON 2-3 REFFLEY
An entertaining game from these two teams in very muddy conditions saw Reffley win by the odd goal of five. In a closely fought first half, both defences were on top with only one scoring chance for each team.

Reffley opened the second half on the back foot, but with Terrington unable to capitalise, they pushed forward and Matt Cornwell supplied some great through balls for Ben Ward to show his prowess to finish twice.

Terrington then raised their game and were soon back into it with two well struck goals. Play was then quite even with both sides fully committed but it was Reffley, through Cornwell, who scored the winner.

Reffley’s managers comment was “a great squad performance”.  Reffley MotM: Ryan Scott.

5 February 2006: REFFLEY 1-5 DERSINGHAM (Sub Cup Q/F)
Reffley made a slow start against a very strong Dersingham team and soon found themselves two goals behind. Persistent play then led to them getting a goal back through a strong run and finish from Matt Cornwell. Both sides knew that the next goal was going to be very important, and with Danny Taylor, Darren Smith and Chris Goodsen producing their best displays of the season Reffley rose to the challenge, only for one simple slip up gifting a goal to Dersingham.

With Ryan and Joe Scott both pushing hard to get back into the game and a few players who struggle with carrying injuries, Reffley left themselves open and Dersingham punished the home team further to score a couple and ran out 5 - 1 winners.

Reffley MotM: James Cole

The Reffley team would like to send best wishes to the Dersingham player who was taken to hospital before the start of the game and thank Richard for refereeing.

22 January 2006: SHOULDHAM 6-0 REFFLEY
This proved to be a really poor team performance from Reffley. Shouldham opened the scoring after 15 mins and added to this half way through the first half. Reffley started the second half quite strongly but caved in when Shouldham scored a soft third. All credit to a strong Shouldham team who added three more to their tally and left the Reffley manager with no complaints about the result.

Reffley MotM: Joseph Scott.

15 January 2005: REFFLEY 6-1 ROCKLANDS
A real hard battling team performance saw Reffley run out comfortable winners of this encounter. An early, well taken goal from Matt Cornwall steadied the nerves and a superbly struck shot from Luke Tyhurst quickly increased the lead.

Rocklands replied with a good goal themselves. After a persistent run from Ryan, his brother Joe Scott finished off the move to give Reffley a 3-1 halftime lead.

The second half saw Reffley continue to press and harry their opponents with regular goals being scored and further chances created. The second half goals were scored by Ryan Scott, Ben Ward and a second for Tyhurst. The whole defence were outstanding as a unit, the midfield battled tirelessly and the lone striker never gave up. The manager was proud of every single one of them today, so no man of the match. Thanks to Barry for taking the whistle.

8 January 2005: REFFLEY 3-1 DOWNHAM

A rather lacklustre performance from Reffley after the Christmas break saw them scrape through this game with three points.

Reffley took an early lead when some good passing opened the way for Matty Cornwell to run through on goal and beat the 'keeper from the edge of the box. A period of Downham pressure was curtailed by a second from Ben Ward in similar circumstances, with Ben finishing from the just outside the area.

Downham were then gifted a chance, which was brilliantly saved by Darren Smith but unfortunately his fellow defenders were not as quick thinking and the forward followed up to tap in the rebound.

The second half was a tight affair with both sides struggling to find any rhythm which was finished as a contest when Cornwell scored his second.

Thanks to Neil for taking the whistle at short notice.

Reffley MotM: Joseph Scott.

18 December 2005: MUNDFORD P-P REFFLEY

No Match Report.

11 December 2005: REFFLEY 0-0 MUNDFORD
This was always likely to be a closely fought game between two well matched sides and so it proved to be. Reffley were forced to make several team changes but coped well and were soon involved in a tough midfield battle. With the defence doing well against a pacey Mundford front line, Reffley carved out several chances from Beasley, Ryan and Joe Scott, and Cornwell but could not find a breakthrough.

The second half saw the game become a scrappy affair, with neither side able to gain an advantage. With Mundford able to hit on the break, Reffley had to be alert and an outstanding one handed save from Darren Smith in the closing minutes ensured that a fair result was achieved.

Reffley MotM: The whole team for a hard working display.

4 December 2005: SNETTISHAM 1-2 REFFLEY (Sub. Cup Pre. Round)
On a very heavy pitch Reffley fought very hard to come back from a goal down to win this encounter. To their credit both sides tried to play good football but eventually the pitch won out as they tired. Good performances from all Reffley team with the pick being two goal hero Matthew Cornwell.

27 November 2005: HUNGATE P-P REFFLEY

No Match Report.

30 November 2005: REFFLEY 3-1 HEACHAM
Reffley won this hard fought encounter with goals from Matthew Cornwell (2) and Ryan Scott. Another good team performance.

12 November 2005: DOWNHAM 1-5 REFFLEY
Reffley started this game brightly and were ahead after only two minutes with a break away goal from Ben Ward. The game then became a tribute to the Downham goalkeeper, who pulled off a string of fine saves and his team responded by equalising just before half time.

The second half started the same as the first with Reffley scoring early by a header from Ryan Scott.

Ward then added two more goals to complete his hat-trick and the scoring was rounded off by Matthew Cornwell converting straight from a corner.

The game was played in a great spirit by both teams and was handled very well by Stuart Dickson.

5 November 2005: SHOULDHAM A 4-1 REFFLEY (KO Cup 2nd Round)
Reffley never got going in this game and against a strong Shouldham side this made things very difficult. Reffley did enjoy the start of the second half but after going three goals behind were never going to feature in the next round. Luke Tyhurst scored Reffley’s consolation goal. Good luck to Shouldham in the next round. Reffley MotM: Chris Goodsen.

30 October 2005: REFFLEY 1-6 DERSINGHAM
A lacklustre performance saw Reffley muscled out of this game bringing to an end to their winning streak. Dersingham took an early lead and never looked back adding further goals throughout the game. Reffley’s only reply came from a great in swinging corner from Ben Ward.

16 October 2005: REFFLEY 6-3 TERRINGTON
Reffley continued their good form against a very strong Terrington side. After a very tight first half which ended at 1 – 1, the second half opened with a flourish, both sides scoring two goals very quickly. It was then nip and tuck with both sides creating openings and it was Reffley who took their chances, going on to notch three more goals. This was a very strong squad performance. Reffley goal scorers were Ben Ward (4) and Matthew Cornwell (2).

Reffley MotM: Chris Goodsen and Ryan Scott. Thanks to Tim Cockle for taking the whistle.

9 October 2005: HEACHAM 0-5 REFFLEY
With only eleven fit players Reffley had their work cut out going into this game, but all the players were brilliant and the team work was exceptional. It had to be because Heacham never gave up. Reffley's first was scored by a Ryan Scott special, quickly followed by a long strike from Ben Ward. Both sides continued to play some nice positive football but it was Reffley who extended their lead with a Matthew Cornwell drive from outside the box.

Early Heacham pressure in the second half was weathered by the Reffley defence who were well marshalled by Darren Smith and the emerging James Cole, ably supported by Patrick Staunton, Chris Goodsen and an injured Jacob Ridsdill.

The game was finally put to bed when after hard work from Joseph Scott and Jack Starling a corner was cleared straight to Danny Taylor who hit a 30 yarder into the top corner and Ward then added his second.

MOTM was the Heacham goalkeeper. Thanks to Marty Woods for taking the whistle.

2 October 2005: REFFLEY 6-2 THREE HOLES (KO CUP - 1st ROUND)
Reffley had to work hard to begin with but won this cup game quite comfortably in the end. Goals were scored at regular intervals from Matthew Cornwell, Chris Goodsen, Jack Starling and a hat-trick for Ryan Scott. The manager’s comment was “nice to see the lads put some of their chances away at last”. Reffley MotM: Joseph Scott.  Thanks to Stuart Freeman for taking the whistle.

25 September 2005: REFFLEY 2-3 SHOULDHAM
The spirit in which this game was played was a complement to both teams. Shouldham opened the scoring early on and increased their lead with a deflected shot before Reffley replied through Ward, after a great ball played through by Beasley. Just before half time, Shouldham restored their two goal advantage with a long range effort. The second half saw Reffley get on top for long periods and Shouldham counter attacking with great speed. The only score in the second period was when Ward latched onto a long clearance from Smith.

The manager commented to Reffley that it was a great advert for football and he was proud of how his team fought. This was re-iterated by the Shouldham manager and parents. Thanks to Stuart Freeman for taking the whistle.

18 September 2005: ROCKLANDS 2-1 REFFLEY
The way that Reffley dominated this game made the result a difficult one to believe. Despite their territorial advantage, having a good penalty claim turned down and ‘keeper Smith pulling off a couple of great saves, Rocklands managed to open the scoring on half time. The second half followed the same pattern: Reffley created chance after chance only to be thwarted each time by an in form Rocklands ‘keeper. The home team extended their lead from a break away goal, but Reffley managed to pull one back through Ward two minutes from full time.

11 September 2005: REFFLEY 1-5 WOOTTONS
Reffley opened their campaign against a strong Woottons side that opened the scoring after 20 mins and added another just before half time. The Woottons then scored a spectacular goal from just inside the Reffley half and went on to add two more. But Reffley persevered and were rewarded when a great piece of individual skill from Ryan Scott opened the way for Ben Ward to score a consolation goal. Reffley had two MOTM: they were the Scott twins Ryan and Joseph.
